Nij Smellinghe hospital introduces sustainable work clothing made of Tecawork™ Ecogreen

We are happy to announce that the Nij Smellinghe hospital has chosen our Tecawork™ Ecogreen fabrics for their new clothing. Located in Drachten, it is the second Netherlands hospital to switch to sustainable garments offering an improved comfort and a lower CO2 footprint. A total of 7.000 garments will be replaced from May onwards in successive phases with clothing made of our sustainable fabrics. Tecawork™ Ecogreen is the first workwear fabric made of 100% sustainable content. Based on an innovative environment-friendly fiber technology consisting of Lyocell, a fiber originated from sustainably grown wood, and recycled polyester obtained from PET bottles. This sustainable clothing will be leased by Rentex Floron, an industrial laundry renowned to be at the forefront when it comes to sustainable initiatives.

Comfortable and greener to wear !
The new clothing isn’t just more environmentally friendly but also more comfortable. The soft yet strong fabric offers a high moisture management feature allowing healthcare professionals to remain dry and fresh all day long. The new uniforms also represent an important step in the hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility program. TenCate Protective Fabrics is proud to contribute to achieving this important sustainability goal.
